SAP Business Partner Wipro Upgrades its ERP System with S/4HANA and Google

SAP Business Partner Wipro Upgrades to S/4HANA and Migrates to Google Cloud

Wipro, a key SAP business partner which has been SAP’s Global Strategic Services Partner since 2007, announces its plan to transition its core SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to SAP’s cloud-based S/4HANA solution, migrate the workloads to Google Cloud Platform, and roll out G Suite as a workplace productivity platform for its more than 180,000 employees.

Wipro president and COO Bhanumurthy B.M. said,

“We are upgrading our entire ERP systems to suit our new business requirements and migrating them to Google Cloud. It’s a big part of our roadmap.

This roadmap is the Indian multinational IT company’s internal transformation program, called Project Quantum—launched in 2006 and revamped this year—that aims to transform the company’s various business processes and operations across finance, sales, delivery, human resources, and other departments.

Bhanumurthy adds,

“As a provider of digital transformation services to some of the world’s most impactful businesses, it is critical that our own core systems and technologies are running on intelligent and modern platforms that encompass the needs of the future. This transformation program will help us to run our most business-critical workloads and applications with speed and agility, and to support our customers more effectively.”

In a report, research director at analyst firm NelsonHall, David McIntire, comments that the move will allow Wipro to gain customers’ trust and develop reusable assets in a relatively low-risk environment.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud said,

“Wipro is embracing digital transformation at speed and scale. By modernising their core systems and technologies with Google Cloud, they have a powerful and scalable foundation to accelerate their strategic enterprise priorities and build for the future.”

Bhanumurthy also notes that Wipro has already developed the toolsets needed to help customers simplify the migration of their SAP workloads to Google Cloud.

Moreover, Rob Enslin, Google Cloud’s president of global customer operations said that the move can be done in as little as six weeks, up to four months.
