FC Bayern Implements SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

With the implementation of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, FC Bayern Munich is now able to efficiently manage its over 1000 employees globally and streamline its core human resource (HR) processes.

Following its huge success in October 2020, SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central has been allowing organisations to effectively supervise its global workforce, prioritise employee experience, and carry out its processes through a cloud-based human resources information system (HRIS).

Teaming up with SAP to consistently standardise HR processes, FC Bayern’s HR department has taken a giant leap to match the performance of Germany’s most winning football club on the field. The solution offers an automated approach to organising HR-related practices including payroll, time and attendance management, and global benefits.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, Executive Vice Chairman, FC Bayern, has highlighted the integration’s impact on its HR department. He said:

“The SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central solution enables FC Bayern’s HR team to do what it does best — focus on strategic, value-added HR rather than transactional processes. Before implementing the solution, we worked with legacy, time-consuming processes. The integration has enabled us not only to digitalise our processes but also to innovate and redesign them. By creating a more efficient environment, our HR team can prioritise on delivering the best employee experience possible.”

Commenting on SAP’s partnership with FC Bayern Munich since 2014, Thomas Saueressig, member of the SAP Executive Board, Product Engineering, mentioned that they have been working closely in providing the club with modern solutions to help them achieve their goals, both in the business and sports aspect. He added:

“The go-live of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central extends this partnership to human experience management, enabling the sports club to further accelerate its growth and remain competitive at all times, both on and off the field.”

From Traditional to Digital through SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

By utilising the SAP Model Company service, FC Bayern can now take advantage of a practical and modernised solution to optimise its system.

FC Bayern’s HR team has left behind all manual processes and spreadsheets to migrate to a digitalised platform for its employees. The transition also allows for consistent HR workflows and business functions that will standardise data across performance management, onboarding, and recruiting in the future.

As a part of SAP SuccessFactors Human Experience Management Suite, the solution lets the HR department produce reports for analytics and workforce planning efficiently as it shifts from traditional transactions to an automated system.

Increasing Employee Engagement

To help drive employee engagement at FC Bayern, the solution also includes self-service tools through the SAP SuccessFactors Mobile app which gives access to all employees — including office workers, managers, coaches, and players — to obtain personal data and update their respective profiles.

The self-service option also enables employees to accomplish tasks, such as entering and recording attendance and absences, which previously required them to communicate with the HR department first for confirmation.

Expressing his delight at the partnership, FC Bayern Executive Board member Andreas Jung remarked:

“With the implementation of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, we are happy to open a new chapter in the long-standing partnership between FC Bayern and SAP.”
